We were granted an audience with seductive comedy monster Red Bastard ahead of his run of shows at Vaults Festival and he left us shook!

Audience with the  Red Bastard

Introduce yourself to our Broke Girl audience if you will:

Why, I’m the beast from below!   Your very own dangerous, seductive comedy-monster.   I’d say “pleasure to meet you,” but I have a feeling we’ve already met.  In your dreams perhaps?  Still, I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.  I find you… fascinating.

How long have you been in the biz?

Uhm…. Which business are we talking about?  Let’s just say I am older than the business itself.  You’ve heard of the phrase, “the oldest profession?”  I am the oldest of the oldest profession.

What inspired the idea of Red Bastard?

Where does a Red Bastard come from, you ask?   I may be found in many places.  Some new- google Red Bastard.   Some ancient- google Venus of Willendorf.  Some banal-  google Chapman, Kansas.  Some mysterious-  google Collective Unconscious.  Hell, google yourself!  I assure you, I have lived and lurked in all these places.

You’re performing at the upcoming Vaults Festival this January & February. Tell us a little about your show?

Think of me as a precious, early Valentines Day present.  I’ve made a show about Love.  And Lies.  And the Lies we tell about Love.  And those bastards who made us lie in the first place!  Sounds fun, right?   Truth is, it’s a despicable show.   An embarrassing show.  In fact, the only reason to see this show is

It’s a show about you…    (sound of echoing laughter)

Least but not least, what is your favourite: acting, writing or directing?

Oh man, I love them all!  But, when I’m acting my favourite is writing.  When I’m writing, my favourite is directing.  When I’m directing, my favourite is acting.  See what I’m saying here?  You always want to be doing someone different than you are.  (Did I say someone?  I meant something).  See you at the show- you dreamer, you

Red Bastard: Lie With Me is at Vaults Festival from 24th January, tickets are available at www.vaultfestival.com
