Ruti Olajugbagbe wins The Voice UK 2018!

A great win for Ruti & Sir Tom Jones in this year’s The Voice UK. Ruti (only 18 years old) wins £100K and a record deal with Polydor; her debut single will be released immediately for all of us who want to snap it up! Let’s look back at some of the highlights from the final.

Live final

Ruti, Lauren Bannon, Donel Mangena and Belle Voci made it through to the live finals. Each contestant had to sing by themselves and then with their mentor.

Donel (#TeamWill) was up first singing ‘Let Me Love You’; his grandmother taking to the stage to dance in support! So, so cute.

Next up, Belle Voci (#TeamJud) sang ‘O Fortuna’ by Carl Orff. Such a talented duo. Absolutely LOVE this song!

Ruti (#TeamTom) followed with her rendition of ‘If You’re Not The One’ by Daniel Bedingfield. Her voice is divine. Just watch Tom’s face as he listens to Ruti.

“You touch me every time you sing” – Tom

“We all love you, like…it’s just so pure” – Jennifer

Lauren Bannon (#TeamOlly) followed by singing ‘Stay’ by Shakespeare’s Sister. She owns this song; the original is incredible but she brings such energy to this smash hit. Olly was adamant she sang this song in the final, which Will.i.a.m described as “stunning”.

“You’re a star” –  Olly

The Judges Performance

I absolutely love the judges on The Voice. They bounce off each other and each character brings something unique to the show. The Coaches performed ‘Come Together’ in the final this year.

Ruti & Sir Tom

Tom was the only person who buzzed for Ruti in her blind audition (I bet the others regret that decision now!). Performing a duet in the live final – ‘What A Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong, it is very evident how fond Tom has become of Ruti.

‘Thank you. Thank you, Tom, so much.’

Da Winner

Ruti and Donel went head-to-head in the final. Both are such talented and lovely individuals, I didn’t know who to root for to win!

A very taken aback Ruti became the official winner of The Voice UK 2018!! ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries will be released as her debut single on Polydor Records, which was sung on the show to secure her place as winner!
