Top London Christmas Markets

I love checking out the Christmas markets in London. It is one of the highlights of the festive season; a truly magical experience. I wanted to share with you some of my favourite Christmas markets in London.

Canopy Market – King’s Cross

Kings Cross is probably the closest market to me. Kings Cross has been completely regenerated and the area is truly magical at Christmas. Canopy Market will be full of foods, music and there is a bar dedicated to mulled wine (my favourite at Xmas!).

From Friday the 30th November 2018 until Sunday 16th December 2018

Where: West Handyside Canopy, just off Granary Square, King’s Cross N1C 4BZ

Top Tip: If you fancy going on a Sunday then pop into The Betjeman Arms for their amazing roast dinner!

Winter at Southbank

Southbank is my favourite place in London. I have been meeting friends and family there for years. It’s beautiful all year round. Most especially at Christmas. Walk along the river under the twinkling lights and sample some amazing food and wine from one of the pop-up bars and restaurants nearby. I love the nearby BFI and also Royal Festival Hall, both of which always have something going on.

Friday 9th November to Sunday 6th January

Where: Southbank, Waterloo, SE1

Winter Wonderland –  Hyde Park

Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is the key Christmas attraction. A huge festival comprised of fun rides, stalls selling Christmas goodies and trinkets, as well as food & drinks from fairy-lit wooden chalets. If you feel daring you could also try out UK’s largest open-air ice rink or the enormous Ferris wheel.

Just be warned. It will be incredibly busy this time of year!

From Friday 23rd November to Sunday 6th January

Where: Hyde Park, Knightsbridge, W2 2UH

Greenwich late market at Christmas

Greenwich Market is open late every Wednesday in December (before Christmas) from 11 am right through to 8 pm. I absolutely love Greenwich. A huge fan already of the market, it is beautifully lit up to provide opportunities to buy presents in the run-up to Christmas. Many British designer-makers showcase their beautifully hand-crafted gifts to inspire you on your gift buying journey.

Wednesdays including 19th December

Where: Greenwich

Winterville

Winterville, Clapham

I am really looking forward to going to Winterville in Clapham Common. Street Feast has a great reputation for delivering the very best in street food. Expect The likes of Up In My Grill, with their fondue steak sandwiches, spiced Christmas fish nuggets from INK and a cheese machine by the Raclette Brothers.

Personally I intend to hang out in Winterville’s own on-site pub, the Bar Humbug. Hope to see you there!

From Thursday 15th November until Wednesday 23rd January

Where: Clapham

Christmas in Leicester Square

I have been going to this Christmas market in Leicester Square for many years. I used to work for ODEON in the West End. Our offices looked out on Leicester Square so we would spend many an evening on the dodgems and drinking wine. So why not have a look around the market and perhaps take in a film whilst you are there. Prince Charles cinema is one of my favourites and often is a fraction of the cost of the other cinema chains.

From Friday 9th November to Sunday 6th January

Where: Leicester Square (nearest tube is Leicester Square or Piccadilly)

Christmas by the River at London Bridge

Christmas by the River – London Bridge City

From Thursday 29th November to Wednesday 2nd January, a mystical light will sparkle through London as Christmas by the River returns to illuminate London Bridge City into the Capital’s most scenic Christmas market under the stars.

Stunning views of Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and the iconic City skyline, this year’s market will see a stunning array of boutique vendors bring Christmas glow to London Bridge City. Snuggled amongst these will be a mouth-watering assemblage of delicious pop-up food and drink stalls to make for an unforgettable Christmas experience. Throughout December this magical riverside retreat will also host a series of free workshops.

From Thursday 29th November to Wednesday 2nd January

Where: London Bridge

Flea Market at Flat Iron’s Christmas Market

Flat Iron Square’s vibrant weekend Flea Market will be celebrating the Yule time period with a two day Christmas Market on the 15th + 16th December.

Modelled on the markets of Europe and quickly becoming one of the brightest destinations for lovers of vintage and design. Flea at Flat Iron Square is an eclectic mix of antiques, vintage clothing, bric-a-brac, mid-century furniture, ceramics, vinyl, jewellery, books, lights and designs from young, up and coming artists.

Over the 15th and 16th, all traders will be offering one-off specials and the vast array of food vendors will be creating exclusive Christmas dishes for the event. Shoppers can expect music alongside the stalls, with a choir, carollers, a brass band and a swing band.

The market is located in the garden of Flat Iron Square. London’s fastest-growing music, drinks and events hub. Home to gig venue Omeara, the food hall, Tap & Bottle wine bar and Apres London. Which for the Winter months has become Flat Iron Square Alpine Village; the go-to Winter drinks and parties.

Saturday and Sunday 11am – 6pm, 15-16th December

Where: Flat Iron Square on to nearby Union street
