On Friday 9th – Sunday 11th August, a FREE 3-day event in celebration of Britain’s love of BBQs is taking place in Camden Market’s North Yard. At Camden’s Big BBQ, guests will be able to feast on the finest British produce prepared with BBQ techniques and influences from across the globe, watch live demos and masterclasses, sip on smoked negronis and pick up insider tips on how to perfect the Great British summer tradition!
As a nation we’ll collectively host or attend 323 million BBQs this summer, however, nearly a fifth are likely to end in disaster. This August, Camden’s Big BBQ invites Londoners to leave it to the professionals. Feast on the finest British produce prepared with BBQ techniques and influences from across the globe, watch live demos and masterclasses, sip on smoked negronis and pick up insider tips on how to perfect the Great British summer tradition and avoid yet another cookout catastrophe.
The free weekend is hosted BBQ aficionados
Hosted and curated by BBQ aficionados @BBQLads, the free weekend will see Camden Market’s North Yard decked out with grills and live-fire cooking pits preparing BBQ specials and exclusives from across the North Yard’s restaurants, with the addition of some special guest appearances. There’ll be live BBQ&A sessions with chefs and influencers, masterclasses including ‘cocktails to compliment your cookout’ and butchery demos from the likes of Dingley Dell Pork and the Market’s own independent butcher and grill, Camden Town Roadkill.
Camden’s Big Cocktail Bar pop-up will be serving cocktails with a chargrilled twist from Smoked Negronis to Bloody Marys garnished with barbecued bacon, and wines perfect for BBQ pairing, from Beefsteak Club Wine Bar.
North Yard Restaurants embrace BBQ theme
Across the North Yard, its restaurants will be embracing the theme with a menu of specials and weekend exclusives. Camden Town Roadkill will be dishing up their signature Barbecued Pork Belly. Alongside a showcase of unique and less expected cuts, such as pigs head and trotters. Baba G’s will be preparing specials using the traditional tandoor technique. Whilst The Cheese Bar will be rustling up ‘angloumi buns’ made using grilled British haloumi. For condiments and chutneys to elevate the home BBQ, fine food grocer and deli. The Camden Grocer will be showcasing their range of Great Taste Award exclusives. Whilst providing the sweet spot finish for the BBQ feasting with their DIY smores.
Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner
Making sure vegans can get in on the action too. Say goodbye to the sorry salad filled bun as Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner introduces its vegan lobster rolls and barbecue sticky ribz.
The weekend will also welcome guest appearances from London smokehouse specialists Cue Point. They’ll be throwing Afghan BBQ into the global mix with their “Nacos” (traditional Afghan naan bread tacos) and barbecued pastrami. With short ribs from London born and bred, Salt Shed with further surprise guests to be announced.
