An Alfresco Oasis for Summer Celebrations.
London Wine Week Hub at Flat Iron Square, London Bridge
FREE Entry| 15th – 20th May
London Wine Week has a brand-new Hub at Flat Iron Square this year. Situated just behind the bustling South Bank and within walking distance of London Bridge, the urban oasis will be transformed into a wine-filled garden playing host to a variety of pop-up wine bars throughout the week and even a Royal Wedding celebration and live screening on Saturday, 19th May.
The newest foodie hub in Bankside, Flat Iron Square, is home to a tantalising line-up of bars, food vendors, restaurants, street food trucks, outdoor space and a live music venue. From Tuesday 15th until Sunday 20th May, London Wine Week will take residence in its garden – a partially covered yard with feasting tables, a log cabin, and easy access to the delicious dishes in the Food Arch for which the helpful team at LWW have suggested wine pairings. With free entry and open to all, the Hub is the perfect spot to start exploring LWW.
All-week pop-up wine bars:
Loire Valley Wines will be celebrating one of its region’s most iconic varieties from its ‘Muscadet Mobile’. Freixenet will be appeasing those summer rosé cravings with its Vintage Van serving up pink fizz. Pol Roger is parking up in a LandRover to serve jeroboams of Champagne alongside a vast selection of their still wines, whilst Graham’s will be offering visitors light and refreshing White Port and Tonics, this summer’s must-have aperitif.
Daily happenings:
Flat Iron Square’s onsite wine bar, Tap & Bottle, will be handing over the keys to iconic merchants Berry Bros. and Rudd on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for their first-ever pop-up wine bar.
From Thursday, Tap & Bottle will become the first Wine Tours stop for a £5 LWW flight. Festival Pass holders starting at the Hub will be able to head straight to the bar and enjoy its impressive collection of wines served on tap.
Come Friday, Regal Rogue’s “Rogue Terrace” will pop up at the Hub on the outdoor stage, with DJs bringing a celebratory soundtrack to the weekend and lashings of vermouth to quaff.
Throughout the week, from Tuesday – Thursday, guests will be able to watch as Bolivian artist Edgar Lizarazu creates large images on canvas using red wine as paint. As the wine dries, the complexity of the colours changes with the oxidisation to create unique and stunning visuals.
