MTV Presents Trafalgar Square: U2 and David Guetta

MTV Presents Trafalgar Square with David Guetta

    MTV Presents Trafalgar Square

When I wrote my blog this week about all of the MTV Music events taking place in London, in the countdown to the MTV Europe Music Awards, I did not think for one second that I would be there on Saturday night watching U2 and David Guetta!

I decided to enter the MTV Presents Trafalgar Square ballot as I wrote up the competition for broke girl in the city. You can imagine how excited I was to see a confirmation email in my email inbox for saying I had won tickets!!

Throughout the day, I witnessed pictures coming through my insta feed from Trafalgar Square. Marketing and production old colleagues were setting up for the night’s entertainment.

The Whitmore

I have known Laura Whitmore since she joined MTV. Just one of those people is beautiful inside and out. Coming on to the stage, this is the Whitmore proudly introducing THE greatest Irish band U2.

U2

U2 have always been one of those iconic bands you always want to see if in your lifetime. They were as incredible as you would expect  them to be.

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. opened with ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday.’ A song which resonated with the crowd around me, since today fell on Armastice Day. I was slightly gutted he didn’t sing ‘With or Without You’. The playlist however included the band’s all-time and new hits:’Pride’ (In the name of love), ‘Get Out Of Your Own Way’, ‘You’re the best thing about me’, ‘Elevation’, ‘Vertigo’ and ‘One’. The MTV Presents: U2 in Trafalgar Square gig celebrated U2 wining the Global Icon award at the European Music Awards (EMAs).

“When women around the world unite to rewrite history as herstory, it’s a beautiful day” – Bono

David Guetta

I have seen David Guetta many times, including on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on New Year’s Eve. I didn’t think anything could top that. Then I saw him perform in Trafalgar Square for MTV. The production was insane. Trafalgar Square was lit up in blue and red hues – the atmosphere was amazing. I thought of all my MTV friends and past colleagues working on the night. MTV Presents Trafalgar Square surpassed anything I had seen to date!
