Broke Girl in the City’s Lockdown Diaries: Week 10
June 1st has been quite a significant day in the COVID-19 Diary. As someone who is shielding, the Dominic Cummings saga has really upset the whole country. While that must have been a difficult situation, the fact that a senior figure and the Prime Minister could undermine our efforts to stay safe has really impacted the country. I have witnessed photos of people on the beach and travelling to other areas all weekend. Thinking of friends and family on the coast, who will be too scared to leave the house due to COVID-Idiots descending on their areas.
#MentalHealthAwareness
This week is going to be a shorter Lockdown Diary because this week has been a struggle. Following #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, I don’t think that I am alone in feeling anxiety at the moment. The Government is easing lockdown when confidence in them is at an all-time low this weekend. I have been told that I can finally leave the house for a walk, but to do this, I had to enlist the support of a housemate to go with me as I haven’t left the house for two months. How are you all feeling right now? We are all on different journeys, but I feel you to anyone else feeling anxiety right now.
Little note from me: If you are struggling with your mental health, please do get help.
June 1st Lockdown Measures
How have you felt about the new June 1st measures? I am finally allowed out of the house to go for a walk, but I feel that the country is divided between people who, like me are strictly following measures and those who are acting as if lockdown has ended. Of course, I can only comment based on what I am hearing in the news and on my personal social media pages.

My Top 3 Tips for Lockdown: Week 10
1. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
I think this week for me has been really testing for me. I have spent so much time taking vitamins, buying new bedding to get a good night’s sleep, and investing in hair products. Yet, with so much pressure to stay in rather than go to work. Unable to meet friends rather than just phone. I think that this was a week; I had to admit that protecting our mental health is so important right now. I have been waking up early in the morning and using this time and space to be mindful and get into a positive headspace for the forthcoming day.
2. FIND THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO
I have noticed that many of us have all been experiencing fatigue because we have nothing to look forward to. I am living out of my bedroom, which is testing. However, even though we are limited in what we are doing right now. Spend some time planning things to do for when this is over. I can’t wait to meet friends on the South Bank in London for a glass of wine. Visit my Mum and go to the beach. Go to Ibiza next year.
3. DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE
Doing something nice for someone else will make you feel good. Historic Newspapers approached me, asking me if I wanted to review their football books in time for Father’s Day. Denny is a huge football fan, so we sent him one as a surprise, which he loved! You don’t even need to spend money to make someone feel special. Ring, text, or send them a message to let them know you are thinking of them.
That concludes Week 10 of my Lockdown Diaries!
