Happy New Year!
I am staying in this year for personal reasons. I promised someone I would be with them, as who knows what will happen by this time next year.
Many people are opting to stay in tonight, whether their decision is affected by Omnicron or not. However, to everyone who is dressed up and ready to go out, out! I hope you have the most wonderful (and safe) time for everyone who is working in bars, clubs or restaurants tonight. I am thinking of you too.
What are your plans?
I am listening to Mark Doyle & Hed Kandi DJ in the background. Sipping Prosecco & writing my last entry of 2021. Who knows what I will be writing this time next year!
It’s been quite a challenging year.
I started the year looking for a new job role and a new house whilst shielding. Fun times. Now I am happy in a fantastic marketing role in a new home, and wondering what 2022 will bring. With my latest pay packet, I have paid off all of my remaining debts in full. Ready to kickstart the New Year!
What are you proud of?
This year I wrote for The Guardian’s Sustainability Supplement about money for Checklists and also shared my story about getting into £35k worth of debt for Virgin Money. I was invited to speak on a podcast, All About Money, and also with Laura Whitmore on BBC Radio 5 Live. I am passionate about writing and sharing my stories to help others with their personal finance journey and also sustainability. What are you proud of this year?
I also got my Personal Licensee’s Certificate.
Next year won’t be without its challenges.
I have learned much about myself this year and what can be accomplished even under the worst circumstances! 2021 has taught me a lot about priorities and what to focus on in the year ahead. I can’t wait for what the New Year will bring…
New Year in London is not cancelled!
The festivities in Trafalgar Square and the New Year fireworks were cancelled this year.
It’s only recently been announced that New Year’s Eve fireworks will go ahead with it being shown on TV at midnight.
Many people have managed to get last-minute tickets to parties and will be heading out for a cheeky tipple or two. Celebrating with friends or family. People in Scotland and Wales have been urged to stay at home or minimise contact with others celebrating, as has many other people around the world. Others have been urged to walk the fireworks from the comfort of their own homes.
Whatever you choose to do tonight. Let’s all celebrate and, above all, stay safe.
Power of Three – the beginning
I always use the Power of Three in all of my marketing communications, so I decided to introduce this as a new category in my blog this year. We need to simplify our lives, not overcomplicate them.
Check out my January 2022 Power of Three suggestions to focus on in the New Year! Let me know what you plan to focus on in the New Year.
Wherever you may be tonight, it’s a chance to reflect upon the year that was and look forward to 2022. If you are having to isolate over New Year with COVID – I hope you get better soon!
As always, I have listed out my 3 New Year’s Eve Tips.
1. Celebrate
Whether you have chosen to stay in or go out, out. It’s a night to celebrate. I have a bottle of cava and prosecco, and it’s a night in front of the TV for me! Have fun and celebrate the year that has been and the year ahead.
2. Connect
New Year is a time for connection. We haven’t been able to see many of our friends this year physically. So tonight is a chance to connect once again with people you love you haven’t spoken to in ages and feel connected.
3. Care
Whatever you do tonight. Please take care of yourself and each other xx
