Interview with Chelsea Singh

1.   You have several singles out this summer. Can you tell us more about them?

I have lots of tracks coming out this summer and a lot of them have been inspired from back in the day when I used to go out raving. So a lot of them have what we call the ‘old school piano’ riffs in them.

2.   How would you describe your music to someone?

Old school piano house. But I am now moving away from that style and I’m doing a lot of minimal tech.

3.   Can you tell us about your music background and who influenced you?

What influenced me was old school, Gary Newman. All the electronic stuff that was coming out in the late 80s was a massive influence on me.

4.   What have you been focusing on during lockdown?

During lockdown, all I have been doing is getting my head down and producing music. I worked really hard during the lockdown and produced 25 tracks which I am really proud of, and are all being released throughout the year! I have also been focusing on not just releasing music and doing remixes, but I have also moved onto minimal tech production which you will hear about in the upcoming months!

5.   You are based in London and Windsor – what are your favourite things about the city and the country?

My favourite thing about London is that all the nightclubs are local and are just around the corner. I can go out, get drunk and it’s very easy to get home! I live in Chelsea in London so there are loads of brilliant clubs and bars in the area. So you can’t beat London as a city for the nightlife as it’s incredible!

What I like about Windsor is that when I am out DJing all over London, I can come back to Windsor and take a chill pill! It’s a lot more chilled out as it’s right next to Windsor Castle which is such a beautiful, historic town. It’s a place I can really put my feet up and relax.

6.   As we are easing out of lockdown, what are the 3 things you can’t wait to do again?

Hug people, meet people, shake hands with people and just have that full interaction you get with music. When you’re out DJing people naturally want to come up to you and shake your hand, pat you on the back and say that was a great track! Just really little things like that which we haven’t been able to do will be amazing. I can’t wait to get back to normality.

7.   What is your top tip for living your best life?

Live your life as if it’s your last day! I have always said that. You never know what’s around the corner. Do whatever you want to do. Anything you put your mind to you can do and achieve! Go out, live your best life, do what you want to do and don’t take NO for an answer because you can achieve everything!

8.   What are your plans and ambitions for the future?

To continue to make music, but move into a slightly different genre. As I mentioned earlier, I will be moving more towards the minimal tech. I also want to continue to DJ all around the world!
